Belle Fourche and Nature is Non Partisan
Showed up for five days in South Dakota to talk to locals from all political stripes about their views on conservation, nature, the environment and politics. I think politics is not only stupid but it’s harmful as it makes everyone angry and filled with anxiety. I’m happy to have dropped out of that crap.
I was on a shoot for a client called Nature is Nonpartisan. They want everyone to come to the middle when it comes to environmental conservation. So we went to the literal geographical middle of America— Belle Fourche— to have an event with people on the left and right.
Along the way I met an 83 year-old trout fisherman.
Took a tour of a woman’s ranch who showed us wolf lichen which was traditionally used to kill wolves (and could probably do damage to humans if they ingested it, too.) It’s pervasive in The Black Hills.

These are trees.
These are some influencers on the left and right. We took them hiking. They got lost and ended up eating each other.
This is the governor of South Dakota (in the hat) posing on the literal geographical middle of America compass with some of my clients and some influencers. I don’t know who the person in the background is walking dogs but clearly they were excited to be in the photo.
